Hope Helper Internship Program (HHIP) for Undergraduates
Program Structure for Interns:
Comprehensive Coverage
The internship covers all therapy types, not just Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), with the exception of clinical therapies or those that require a facility.
Confidentiality and Technological Literacy
Interns must respect client confidentiality throughout the therapy process and exhibit basic competency with relevant technology (smartphones, apps, etc.), as On Call Hope is a digital platform.
Supervisor Feedback
Supervisors play a critical role in the development of the interns by providing regular feedback on their performance.
Path to Supervision
The program supports interns in their journey to becoming licensed therapists and provides an opportunity for them to return as salaried supervisors once licensed. This fosters a community of continuous growth and learning.
Flexibility and Commitment
Interns and supervisors are required to log a minimum of six hours per day, but these hours do not need to be consecutive, allowing flexibility to accommodate individual needs and obligations. Additionally, two on-call overnight shifts per month are mandatory, one dedicated to the On Call Hope suicide hotline and the other to the general public.
Competitive Compensation
Interns start at a wage that is 15% above the minimum wage. Each year, they are eligible for a salary review based on their performance, which is assessed through a supervisor rating system. The rating system, on a scale of 1-5, enables supervisors to grade the interns’ work. This rating contributes to the calculation of the wage increase percentage until the salary reaches 15% over the state average for supervising therapists.
The HHIP is designed to support the professional growth of interns while ensuring they are adequately compensated and evaluated, ultimately contributing
